Standing Cloud honored for Innovation at Boulder County Business Report’s IQ Awards

Aug. 15, 2011: Standing Cloud, a leader in the emerging Platform as a Service (PaaS) marketplace, was named a finalist in the Boulder County Business Report’s Innovation Quotient (IQ) Awards. Standing Cloud was selected as a finalist for its application management service under the category of Internet/Web. BCBR selected 32 finalists in all, across 10 categories.

A "standing cloud" is a cloud variant typically found in mountainous areas (like Boulder, our home town) formed by high winds rising quickly to pass over a peak or high ridge. At the high point of this airflow, water condenses and forms a cloud. So the air is moving quickly, but the cloud "stands" in the same place. Many, but not all, standing clouds are called "lenticular" clouds because they appear lens-shaped from the side. See Wikipedia for more information.

Standing Cloud offers a number of benefits that are either unavailable or impossible on shared hosts. For starters, Standing Cloud works with virtual machines that are completely isolated from other users, allowing complete access to all of its capabilities. In contrast, shared hosting architecture only allows access to certain components so that users can’t impact other users’ settings and data.

For any type of upgrade, you have the option of automatic or manual upgrades.
