Standing Cloud Launches Ready-Built Application Marketplace for Cloud Service Providers
Offering delivers 100+ applications, easy integration, custom branding,
full support and seamless customer experience
May 01, 2012 – Boulder, CO – Standing Cloud, a leading provider of cloud application management solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the Standing Cloud Marketplace, a ready-built application marketplace for cloud service providers.
Offering easy integration, a seamless customer experience, full user support, custom branding and more than 100 pre-configured applications, the Standing Cloud Marketplace provides a comprehensive solution for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers facing the challenge of moving up the stack to the application layer.
The intuitive user interface, broad catalog of open-source applications and development platforms, and automated deployment and lifecycle management features of the Standing Cloud Marketplace are designed to help cloud providers meet the application needs of their customers by delivering a simple way to find, manage and run applications in their cloud.
Because the Standing Cloud Marketplace uses scripted deployments instead of virtualappliance images, cloud providers also can avoid the costs and burden of image library management, while providing their users with increased application flexibility, portability and stability.
“With recent announcements, it’s clear the ‘app store’ concept popularized by smartphones has spread to the infrastructure cloud, and is quickly becoming table stakes for providers who are serious about competing in the market. Standing Cloud enables providers to get in the game quickly and leapfrog the competition with almost no effort,” said Dave Jilk, CEO of Standing Cloud.
The available custom branding and integration options and extensive white-label configurability of the Standing Cloud Marketplace are specifically designed to address the varying billing, speed-to-market and resource considerations of cloud providers. Three tiers of implementation, customization and service options are available, ranging from a fast-to- deploy “powered-by” application marketplace, a fully integrated white-label marketplace, or a completely custom application marketplace.
For end customers, the simple-to-use, application-centric catalog reduces purchase friction, and the lifecycle management features make it easy for those customers to manage the application without any system administration skills. Version upgrades, backups, monitoring, and scaling are all handled automatically or with a few clicks.
"Making it easy to launch and run fully configured versions of popular products like WordPress or Drupal in just a few clicks is a great value-add for our customers, and Standing Cloud made it easy for us,” said Rus Foster, Managing Director of VPS.NET, one of the first cloud providers to deploy the solution. “Standing Cloud customized the marketplace with our own look and feel, and taps directly into our API to run seamlessly on our infrastructure."
NOTE: Michael Ficco, Vice President of Business Development for Standing Cloud, will present a free online webinar for cloud service providers, “An Application Marketplace for Your Cloud,” showcasing the Standing Cloud Marketplace and demoing a live implementation, on May 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
