Standing Cloud Expands Marketplace
March 17, 2011: Standing Cloud, Inc. announced today a new way for makers of commercial online applications to distribute and market their products and services using the public cloud. Extentech, creators of spreadsheet collaboration software SheetsterTM, and Boru Inc., creators of vTiger+, an enhancement of the popular open source vTiger customer relationship management software, debut as the first ISVs to take part.
Web applications Sheetster and vTiger+ are first available for easy, immediate deployment on seven different cloud providers.
Independent software vendors who collaborate with Standing Cloud will have their application featured in the Standing Cloud Application Network, which brings together end users; applications and their plug-ins; cloud infrastructure providers; and the service providers who customize, support and deploy online applications. (More information available on the Standing Cloud website.)
"From the first time I tried Standing Cloud I was blown away with the fact that someone with no skills beyond using a Web browser can login and within five minutes have a sophisticated cloud-based web application online and at their fingertips,” said Extentech Inc. CEO John McMahon. “As soon as I tried Standing Cloud I began working towards providing Sheetster on this compelling new platform. Now spreadsheet users and docs app developers are mere minutes away from dramatically lowering their barriers to entry -- the exclusive club of the virtual private cloud is now open to all. Welcome to the future!"
With a click, users can trial and purchase Sheetster, vTiger+, or any of Standing Cloud’s 80+ open source applications, fully configured for any of the seven leading cloud platforms the company supports today. Ongoing management, including ongoing backup and monitoring, is equally simple.
The Application Network also provides opportunity for ISVs to promote customization services, support, add-ons, and other enhancements to their applications.
“At Boru, we're always on the lookout for new avenues to promote and extend our business. The Standing Cloud Application Network provides a new and unique channel for us connect to prospective customers. In addition, it gives Boru a streamlined and professional way to offer our own commercial CRM application to our clients,” said Patrick O’Brien, founder of Boru.
Listing their software in the Application Network provides a unique benefit for participating ISVs: free customer test drives of their products through Standing Cloud. Both Extentech and Boru intend to make this “try before you buy” option the default on their own sites.
“We’re eager to work with great application developers like Extentech and Boru who help users and solution providers tap the power of the cloud,” said David J. Jilk, CEO of Standing Cloud.
