Dynamic, crowdsourced maps and timelines of realtime news events
Ushahidi is a crowdsourced ‘activist mapping’ platform that allows observers in war zones, disaster areas and other volatile places to submit realtime eyewitness reports. Users can upload pictures, video and other data via SMS messages, email, Twitter or customized web forms. Ushahidi catalogs each report into a dynamic archive sortable by time and location. Users must handle location information with the Google Maps API. Ushahidi offers visualization tools for both temporal and geospatial data, so that users can view the information on interactive maps and charts. Activists, journalists and observers can be sure they have the latest, most accurate information.
