The T1R Take: Standing Cloud Launches App Marketplace for IaaS Providers

8 May

Following our recent announcement of the launch of our new Standing Cloud Marketplace, analysts Jason Verge and Daniel Beazer of Tier1 Research/451 Group, took a closer look at our offering.

Here's some of what they had to say:

"Standing Cloud has launched a ready-built application marketplace for cloud service providers. It's a turn-key way for hosting providers with an IaaS offering accessible through an API to launch their own marketplace. ... It borrows the best of both SaaS and image library worlds; makes it easy to deploy and manage like SaaS, while giving the flexibility of managing application images without the complications of configuring and deploying via the do-it-yourself route."

And this:

"Some hosting providers figure they have a viable application marketplace simply by offering a list of free open source software downloads. But there is a lot of purchase friction in this setup, as well as extra configuration burdens, and it just isn't as user friendly as the consumer app marketplaces the industry is looking to mimic. In Standing Cloud's approach, app discovery is easier, users can trial an app without having to configure it beforehand, and can deploy it automatically if they like what they see. It makes it easy to discover, try and deploy an app with as little friction as possible, while also easing ongoing lifecycle management."
