Press Release: Standing Cloud Solves Reliability Issue Through Redundancy

Standing Cloud has demonstrated unprecedented reliability for end users at a time when host providers like GoDaddy go down from time to time, as do app-only services like Wordpress.com.

On Standing Cloud, customers can expect their data and systems to be monitored, backed up and restored in a way that allows them to retain control. When providers go down, Standing Cloud moves customers’ data and systems to another cloud provider in minutes or seconds in the background. Standing Cloud solves the problem of reliability through redundancy of entire hosting providers. Most traditional hosting firms take a piecemeal approach—which reduces but cannot eliminate single-point-of-failure issues.

Standing Cloud supports several cloud providers: Amazon EC2, Rackspace, GoGrid, Slicehost, SoftLayer and Tagadab, with more to be added. End users may bring their own cloud credentials or open a cloud account through Standing Cloud.

End users come to Standing Cloud to install and manage apps in the cloud. Our marketplace features 60+ open-source apps from WordPess and Drupal to SugarCRM, OpenVBX, and everything in between, including platforms such as JustPHP and JustLinux. In a few minutes’ time, apps may be installed and fully functional and customizable in the cloud. On traditional hosting platforms, it may take sysadmins approximately 30 minutes to do what takes just a few minutes on Standing Cloud.

Standing Cloud allows end users to test-drive apps for free – installing them and trying them out for 30-minute periods, and then rolls them over to hosted accounts for paying customers.

Standing Cloud is a Boulder, Colo.-based company founded by CEO David J. Jilk, former CEO of Xaffire, an online application monitoring company. The Foundry Group is lead investor.
