News: Standing Cloud Partners with OpSource, Targets 'Informal Buyers'

8 Jun

Our latest partnership announced today points up our focus on making it easier to deploy and manage cloud-hosted applications. We have launched "Standing Cloud powered by OpSource," a leading infrastructure-as-a-service provider, to provide an application layer. Here's why:

Increasingly, substantial cloud demand is coming from so-called “informal buyers.” Defined by Forrester Research (Feb 2011) as “businesses or enterprise users outside the core IT operations and transaction teams,” informal buyers, including application developers, innovative business users and service providers, will drive the future of cloud development. But they typically lack the ability or inclination to use public cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) directly; instead, they’re looking for integrated, “full stack” solutions to ease the systems administration overhead of standard cloud services.

“Standing Cloud powered by OpSource,” the initial offering from the Standing Cloud/OpSource partnership, meets this need by offering a comprehensive “application layer” specifically for OpSource end users. From a custom user dashboard, OpSource customers will be able to find and immediately use more than 80 popular web applications—WordPress, SugarCRM, DotProject and OpenBravo, to name a few—complete with built-in monitoring and management tools that ease system administration headaches.
